The University of Houston Main Campus and Technology Bridge are both subject to rules
regarding petroleum products, or oil. These items include oil of any kind or in any
form such as: fats, oils, or greases of animal, fish, or marine mammal origin; vegetable
oils, including oils from seeds, nuts, fruits, or kernels; and, other oils and greases,
including petroleum, fuel oil, sludge, synthetic oils, mineral oils, oil refuse, or
oil mixed with wastes other than dredged spoil. Different sets of rules are pertinent
for the underground storage of oils (such as in tanks for the University's fueling
station) and for wastewater and stormwater systems such as grease traps and oil-water
separators. If you have petroleum products, contact EHS for details on how you can
comply with the University's Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plan.
