bbqTo kick off the fall semester, UH Dining Services hosted a lively “Welcome Back Barbecue” on Sept. 2 at What It Do BBQ, located next to the TDECU Stadium. Students, faculty, and staff came by to enjoy delicious food and music, while learning about campus resources and upcoming events.

Dining Services representatives welcomed guests, introduced campus meal plans, and highlighted Grubhub services. Additionally, a prize wheel giveaway was incorporated into their tabling activities to enhance engagement.

The What It Do BBQ team efficiently managed dine-in and to-go orders with H-town flair. Guests sampled Taylor Smoked Chicken Flautas and were entered into raffles for restaurant-branded T-shirts.

“We serve traditional Texas barbecue, but we’ve efficiently figured out how to get it out quick,” said Chef Kennis Williams. “Our top sellers are always going to be anything with our brisket. Our ribs have picked up dramatically as well as our creole candy wings, which we smoke, then fry, and then put them in our signature creole candy sauce we make in house.”

DJ Triddy (Tristan), a senior majoring in integrated studies at UH, provided musical entertainment that contributed to the lively atmosphere.
