Weaving History into Design
When Hines College student Marshall Bradley first learned he had been selected for the Project Row Houses’ Floyd Newsum Summer Studios Mentorship + Residency Program, he knew it was more than a creative opportunity—it was a chance to explore the deep history and humanity of Houston’s Third Ward. Now, after completing the residency and presenting his exhibition in August and September, Bradley reflects on a summer that not only transformed his perspective as a designer but also deepened his connection to the community he sought to honor.
Hines College Shines at AIA Houston Design Awards
The Hines College is once again making its mark on the city’s architectural landscape, with faculty, students, and alumni recognized among the winners of this year’s AIA Houston Design Awards. Presented annually by the American Institute of Architects’ Houston chapter, these awards are considered the region’s highest honor for design excellence.
Getting WithIt
At the end of July, the WithIt Women’s Leadership Development Network announced fifteen scholarship recipients for students studying for degrees in the home and furnishing industry across the country. Five Hines College students received awards to further their studies and had the opportunity to travel to Kansas City, Missouri, to attend the WithIt Professional Conference.
