The University of Houston is committed to creating an educational environment where students thrive. The University is equally dedicated to offering a world-class education without breaking the bank. The UHin4 program was created to simplify the process for students to earn both a high quality and affordable education.
What is the UHin4 Four-Year Graduation Plan?
UHin4 is a commitment between students and the University of Houston to help students
graduate in four years. It provides priority enrollment, personalized advising, and
guaranteed access to the courses needed or identification of appropriate substitutions.
In return, students commit to staying on track by completing one-quarter of their
degree plan each year, staying enrolled every fall and spring, and following their
academic plan. The university supports student progress by providing academic maps,
advising, planning tools, and ensuring course availability, plus reviewing student
degree progress annually and offering solutions if required courses are unavailable.
How UHin4 Helps Students Stay on Track
- Academic maps provide students with a clear, semester-by-semester guide to the courses they need, helping them avoid unnecessary delays and stay on track for timely graduation.
- Priority enrollment allows students to enroll in courses prior to general open enrollment, providing greater flexibility in class choice, times that fit their work, internship, or personal schedules, allowing them to balance academics with other responsibilities.
- Students receive an annual evaluation of their degree progress to ensure compliance with the Four-Year Graduation Plan. This proactive advising helps identify whether students are on track and outlines the steps needed to maintain or restore compliance, supporting their goal of graduating on time. - UHin4 ensures students have access to the courses they need by providing a way to request help if a required course isn’t available, including exploring substitutions or other academic solutions to keep students on track.
Other Benefits Include:
Peer Assistant Leaders | Peer Success Coaching
In addition to these support systems, UHin4 participants also have the added benefit of a Peer Assistant Leader (PAL). These are trained student leaders who coach their assigned peers through academic planning, goal setting, and overcoming potential barriers. They regularly communicate with students, connect them to campus resources, and offer guidance on navigating university systems. Through one-on-one success coaching, PALs help students build confidence, stay motivated, and make informed decisions throughout their academic journey.
Fixed Rate Tuition Plan Option
UHin4 participants have the option to select a fixed tuition rate when they join the program. Choosing the fixed rate is not required to participate in UHin4, but it may offer financial predictability. Be sure to evaluate whether this option makes financial sense for you based on your academic and personal circumstances. Click here to learn more about the Fixed Rate Tuition Plan.
Academic Support Plan
Participants in UHin4 who experience academic challenges after their first fall semester benefit from a personalized Academic Support Plan designed to help them stay on track for graduation. This plan includes joint support from LAUNCH and Peer Assistant Leaders (PALs) for guidance and encouragement. In addition, participants are connected to key campus resources such as advising, tutoring, career services, and counseling. This proactive support ensures participants have the tools they need to succeed academically and maintain their progress toward a four-year degree.
